Fás/Paradigm announce new series of free CAD/BIM Training Courses

Fás, in conjunction with Paradigm Technology is pleased to announce that it will be commencing a new series of advanced CAD/BIM Training courses over the coming weeks. The courses were first run in 2009 and proved extremley popular amongst potential participants.

These courses are aimed at unemployed Architects, Engineers and Technicians, who may wish to take the opportunity to upskill in order to enhance their  CVs and job prospects.

The courses are as follows:

3D - Revit Architecture: This course is designed for existing Architectural CAD users, who require an introduction to the concepts of BIM, using Autodesk Revit Architecture 2010 software. Concepts covered include bi-directional associativity, parametric relationships and an introduction to building design and documentation using BIM technology. Ref: Q171

AutoCAD 2010 3D Modelling: This course is designed for experienced AutoCAD users who have previous knowledge of 2D AutoCAD but limited exposure to 3D modelling. The course may be taken on its own or as a precursor to more advanced 3D visualisation/animation training, using 3DS Max. Ref: Q170

3D Model Design - Civil Survey: This course introduces the model based design technology incorporated in Autodesk's Civil 3D software. It is designed for Civil Engineers, Technicians and Surveyors who want to take advantage of AutoCAD Civil 3D's interactive, dynamic design functionality. Students learn how to work with point data and survey data; create and analyse a terrain model; develop a site; perform grading and volume calculations, design and model road corridors; layout pipe networks, and share data. Ref: Q175

3D Max 2010 Design Visualisation: The goal of this course is to present students with the tools needed to work effectively in 3DS Max Design. Attendees will learn how to create and edit 3D models and scenes, and how to apply lighting and materials for realism. Knowledge of 3D modelling concepts prior to attending this course is beneficial. Ref: Q176

Attendees may optionally proceed to undertake an examination to obtain Autodesk certification in the relevant software product at either Associate or Professional level. This is an international recognised certification system for users of Autodesk software.

Persons wishing to apply for any of the above courses should contact their local FÁS employment Services Office details of which are available at www.fas.ie. Applicants should quote the references attached to the course (above) if they are interested in pursuing.

Architects! Technology Can Help You Beat The Downturn

With the current downturn (or worse) affecting all areas of the design and construction sectors, you are probably looking for some break in the clouds. Here’s something worth looking at: Building Information Modelling (BIM), is a new technology, which can dramatically increase your design productivity and provide you with a competitive edge in gaining new business.

AutoCAD Training Needs Calculator

The Paradigm Training Needs calculator is ideal in assessing your needs for AutoCAD Update training. The calculator asks you questions about recent enhancements to AutoCAD to assess whether you should consider Update training. It takes about 5 minutes to complete. Score 1 for each “Yes” answer and 0 for each “No” answer.

Click here for a printer friendly version of the calculator and here to view our current training schedule. More information: contact Des McGrane

System Health Check

Many CAD users and managers are not getting the full potential from their systems, either through under-use of the software, lack of training, inconsistency of standards, lack of organisation in drawing workflow or simply using the wrong product .

Our System health-check includes consultations with a Network Engineer and a CAD Specialist, which will enable you to identify enhancements to your IT/CAD configuration to optimise its efficiency. The information gathered during these visits is used to generate a report, which will outline our findings and recommendations.

Through identifying the right solutions to suit your business needs, this free assessment provides a superb opportunity to boost the efficiency and productivity of your systems and increase the profitability of your business.

Communicate Your Designs More Effectively-
Use Our
3D/Visualisation Service

3D visualisation and animation software can help you communicate your design ideas, particularly to people who may have no formal training or experience in interpreting 2D drawings.

To see the powerful visual impact of such animations, just click on the images below and download them for viewing on your computer.

However, if you only do 3D modelling on an occasional basis, it can be tedious, time consuming and expensive, so why not outsource the work to Paradigm. We will take your 2D drawings and turn them into professional 3D visualisations and animations using state of the art software and hardware.
